About Habitat For Humanity

The overwhelming need for housing in our communities has provided Habitat For Humanity with a unique opportunity to change lives in our local neighborhoods

Affordable, decent housing is one of our most basic human needs, yet it is in alarmingly short supply in our very own neighborhoods and throughout the world. A decent place to call home creates stability, launching families onto a positive trajectory of generational change that includes hope, improved health, and a better quality of life.

Since its founding, Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 800,000 homes, providing shelter for over 1 million people in nearly 80 countries. A new Habitat home is completed somewhere in the world every 21 minutes!

Working with volunteers, families and individuals, corporations, congregations and donors in locally in Central Ohio, Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio is able to tackle this important housing issue throughout Central Ohio.  Habitat MidOhio is dedicated to making homeownership possible for low-income, hardworking families and individuals.

Hand Up, not a Hand Out!

Habitat for Humanity offers a hand up, not a hand out.  With the support of community partners, donors and volunteers, Habitat constructs new or renovates existing homes alongside Habitat Partner Homebuyers.

In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest Sweat Equity hours building their future Habitat home and the homes of other Habitat Homebuyers. Habitat homes are sold to Partner Homebuyers at no profit and financed with affordable loans.

Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio has spent more than a quarter century bringing the dream of homeownership to families in need. Working in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity International since 1987, Habitat MidOhio’s partners, donors, and volunteers have played a significant role in rekindling hope for more than 340 families living in Central Ohio through new home construction and home repairs. Shelter is a basic human need and Habitat for Humanity strives to achieve its goal of eliminating substandard housing by making decent, sustainable and affordable housing a reality for all.

Join Thousands of Volunteers in Giving Back

Habitat For Humanity educates volunteers and interested community members of all ages on how important it is to give back.

Habitat For Humanity believes everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live and everyone is welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people.

Be a part of the fun… volunteer at a Habitat For Humanity near you!

Habitat Partner Families Participate

As part of the program, every partner family must perform a minimum of 200-250 hours of sweat equity, which includes working on their own house and those of other Habitat families.

They also must attend home-ownership classes, and provide Habitat program support.

In addition, every family assumes a no-interest, no-profit mortgage with payments based on family income.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Founded in Americus, Georgia, USA, in 1976, Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate and repair close to 800,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide.

Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Invest in Ohio State

A gift to The Ohio State University is an investment in its students, faculty and potential. By supporting Ohio’s land-grant institution, alumni, friends, parents and partners can help us secure educational opportunities for future generations of students and meet the enormous challenges faced as a society. Together, we will sustain an enduring tradition of scholarship, service and pride.

At Ohio State, they are not afraid to take risks, to test bold hypotheses or to rethink traditional approaches to problems. They are innovators of new technologies and medical procedures. They dare to ask new questions and to celebrate the synergy and solutions that result when people from seemingly unrelated disciplines join together for a common cause. With additional private support, they will be able to bring a wider spectrum of research opportunities to Ohio State — and consequently offer more solutions to those Ohio State serves locally and around the world.

The Ohio State Fund for the Alumni Association (Fund Number: 301278) provides program support for the purpose of advancing the mission of the Alumni Association.  To find out more, visit:   https://www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/?Source_Code=DEV_AG-0-AlumniMembership-ON-S&Fund=301278
